Ash Wednesday is the first day of lent.
What is lent ?
Lent represents the 40 days and nights Jesus spent in fasting and prayer in the wilderness.
Today is the day we are urged not only to give up something for 40 days but spend that time in prayer and repentance.
Do you want to know how Jesus overcame Satan? Matthew Chapter 4 will give you the answer.
Are you able to overcome the temptation of Satan as Jesus did ?
Why is it called Ash Wednesday?
In the Old Testament, people would have ash on their foreheads as a symbol for repentance and death.
We have the cross of ash on placed on our forehead to remind us of what Jesus actually did when he died on the cross. So today let’s mourn Jesus and his sinless life and repent our sins for which he gave his life with such love and devotion for all humanity.
“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return “
