National Housing Party United Kingdom (NHPUK). Last updated: 30 October 2026.
Who we are
The National Housing Party United Kingdom (NHPUK) is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. This means we decide why and how it is used, and we are responsible for looking after it.
- Registered name and address: National Housing Party United Kingdom, 45 Gower Street, Oldham OL1 3UR
- Contact for privacy questions: [email protected]
- Electoral Commission registration: PP12868 (Great Britain) and PP12874 (Northern Ireland)
This policy covers our website, www.nationalhousingparty.uk, our sign-up and join forms, our newsletter, our contact form, donations and our shop.
What we collect
We collect only what you give us through our forms, plus the minimum technical information needed to run the website safely. We do not buy data or use the electoral register for this website.
| When you… | We collect |
|---|---|
| Join us or sign up for news | Your name and email address; which form you used; when you signed up and when you confirmed |
| Contact us | Your name, email address and message |
| Donate | Your name, email address and the amount; payment details are handled by the payment provider, not by us |
| Buy from our shop | Your name, postal and email address, and your order; payment details are handled by the payment provider |
| Visit the website | Your IP address and browser details, used briefly to protect the site from attacks and automated abuse |
| Use the search box | Nothing: your search goes straight to Google, whose privacy policy then applies |
Because you are signing up with a political party, the fact that you have joined or subscribed may reveal your political opinions. The law treats this as special category data, and we protect it accordingly.
Why we use it and our legal basis
We use your information only for the purpose you gave it for. UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) requires a legal basis for each use.
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Sending you our newsletter and news of our work | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Keeping a record of members and supporters, and contacting them about party activity | Your consent, and our legitimate activities as a political party |
| Answering your messages | Our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us |
| Taking donations and shop orders | Our contract with you, and our legal duties to keep financial records and, where they apply, to report donations to the Electoral Commission |
| Protecting the website and our sign-up lists from abuse | Our legitimate interest in keeping our systems secure |
Political opinions. We process information that may reveal your political opinions on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give when you tick the box on our sign-up form. We also rely on our legitimate activities as a not-for-profit political body, with appropriate safeguards, and, as a party registered with the Electoral Commission, on the condition for registered political parties (UK GDPR Article 9(2)(a), 9(2)(d) and 9(2)(g); Data Protection Act 2018, Schedule 1, Part 2, paragraph 22). Such information is never shared outside the party without your consent.
Confirming your email address. When you sign up, we send one email asking you to confirm. We add you to our list only after you click the link. If you do not confirm within 7 days, we delete your details.
We do not sell your information, and we do not make automated decisions about you.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information or give it to unrelated organisations. A small number of service providers handle it on our behalf, only on our instructions and only as needed to provide their service.
| Provider | What they do for us |
|---|---|
| Our hosting provider, promptweb.co.uk | Runs our server, which holds our mailing list and sends our emails |
| Cloudflare | Delivers our website, protects it from attacks and automated sign-ups, and passes sign-ups and contact messages to us in encrypted form |
| Zoho | Hosts our party email inbox |
| PayPal, Stripe and Donorbox | Process donations and shop payments |
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, for example to the Electoral Commission about reportable donations, or to the police. Within the party, only the people who need it for their role can see it.
How long we keep it, and how we protect it
We keep information only as long as we need it, then delete it.
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Sign-ups that are never confirmed | 7 days |
| Members and newsletter subscribers | While you remain signed up; you can unsubscribe at any time |
| Unsubscribe and “do not contact” requests | Your email address only, kept so that we never contact you again |
| Messages sent to us | 1 year after the conversation ends |
| Donations and shop orders | 6 years, as required for financial records |
| Technical records of a sign-up or contact message (time, form used, IP address) | 30 days, to investigate abuse |
Security. Our public website is a fixed copy of our pages, with no logins and no database that visitors can reach. Only authorised people can reach the system used to edit it. Sign-up details are encrypted as soon as you submit them and decrypted only on our own server. All connections to the website use encryption (HTTPS).
Outside the UK. Our server is in the EU, which UK law recognises as giving personal information adequate protection. Some providers, such as Cloudflare and PayPal, may process data outside the UK. When they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you;
- correct it if it is wrong;
- delete it;
- stop or limit how we use it, or stop all contact (direct marketing stops whenever you ask);
- give it to you in a form you can take elsewhere.
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, which works with one click. For anything else, email [email protected]. We reply within one month and may ask you to confirm your identity first.
Cookies
Our website sets only the cookies it needs to work and to stay secure, such as Cloudflare’s security check. We do not use analytics or tracking tools, or advertising cookies, and we do not track whether you open our newsletters or click their links.
Some pages show content from other services: videos from YouTube and Rumble, and Donorbox’s donation form. Those services may set their own cookies when the page loads or when you use them; their own privacy policies apply. Our search box sends your search to Google, whose privacy policy then applies.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, 0303 123 1113, or Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the way we use information changes, and show the date of the latest version at the top.
